What is a BMW Certificate of Conformity?

A BMW Certificate of Conformity (COC) is the official document issued by BMW AG that confirms a specific vehicle was built according to European type-approval rules. It lists technical data that registration authorities need: engine type, power, emissions class, weights, tyre sizes, VIN and the EC type-approval number.

When you import a BMW from another EU country into Romania or any other member state, the local authority (for example RAR in Romania) almost always asks for this certificate. Without it, registration can be delayed or refused.

The COC is manufacturer-backed and produced from factory data matching the VIN. The document is tied to one car only and remains valid for the lifetime of that vehicle.
